DByteOS Personal Workspace Beta Foundation (v9.0.2)

Welcome to the Beta milestone of DByteOS!

DByteOS has transitioned from an experimental CLI language/userland simulation into the stable, integrated, daily-use Personal Workspace Beta Foundation running securely on a host OS.

Technical Scope§

This release represents Beta Positioning, Alignment, and Hardening. There is absolutely no added hardware/kernel dependencies, no raw host OS passthroughs, and no breaking language features. The core engines (Tree and VM) and all userland services have been stabilized, integrated, and verified to achieve 100% execution parity.

Core Beta Subsystems§

DByteOS Beta integrates the following core layers under a cohesive workspace user experience:

  1. Dashboard (dashboard.dby):

    • Consolidates all system diagnostics and workspace reports into a unified "Home Screen".
    • Subcommands: dashboard (Home Screen), dashboard projects (Status list), dashboard tasks (Aggregated tasks), dashboard search (Secure workspace search), dashboard timeline (derived events count), dashboard health (Diagnostic readiness), and dashboard snapshot (Consolidated state).
  2. Timeline (timeline.dby):

    • Reads journals, daily agendas, and project updates chronologically.
    • Dual-engine fallback support (cached vs scan mode).
  3. Workspace Search (search.dby):

    • High-performance exact indexing and fallback file scanning across projects and task files.
    • Secure delimiter and query validation.
  4. Preferences (preferences.dby):

    • Persisted workspace preferences across session boundaries.
  5. Diagnostic Services:

    • Subsystem doctor gates, service initialization sequences (boot), and interactive command guides.

Journey Verification Discipline§

Under the Beta release discipline, the entire workspace journey is subjected to strict Full Beta Journey Smoke Tests verifying initialization, task setup, database sweeps, cache rebuilds, active dashboard reporting, and exact multi-line snapshot equality gates.
